All In Listening Sessions

All In Listening Sessions

ALL IN Alameda County is a multi-stakeholder innovation incubator within County government bringing together community residents, business owners, nonprofit leaders, government agency staff and elected officials to end poverty in Alameda County. The ALL IN Alameda County Community Listening Sessions were launched in 2015 when the County awarded mini grants to 17 individuals and community groups to think through community challenges that could be addressed by a combination of neighborhood assets and public sector resources and innovation. By All Means, The Harvard Graduate School of Education

The Harvard Graduate School of Education launched By All Means in February 2016, run by the Education Redesign Lab, to rethink education and child development systems. The initiative is addressing the iron law correlation in the U.S. between a child’s socioeconomic status and his or her prospects for educational achievement through several key strategies: research and dissemination, policy and advocacy, deep field work in six cities–Louisville, KY; Oakland, CA; Providence, RI; and Salem, Somerville, and Newton, MA–and a series of national convenings at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

My Brother’s Keeper, The Obama Foundation

President Obama launched My Brother’s Keeper in February 2014 to address persistent opportunity gaps facing boys and young men of color and to ensure all youth can reach their full potential. In 2015 the My Brother’s Keeper Alliance (MBK Alliance) was launched, inspired by My Brother’s Keeper, to scale and sustain this mission. In late 2017, MBK Alliance became an initiative of the Obama Foundation.

OUSD Community Schools

A community school is both a place and a strategy for organizing the resources of the school and the community around student success. Community Schools Student Services (CSSS) provides an integrated focus on academics, health and social services, youth and community development and community engagement focused in improving student learning, building strong families and healthy communities. Oakland Unified School District¬ operates 35 full service Community Schools led by Community School Managers to coordinate programs and services to meet the holistic needs of youth, families and the school community.

Oakland Starting Smart and Strong is a collaborative created so that every Oakland child grows up healthy and engaged in learning. Their overarching goal is to create universal access to high-quality early learning experiences that promote healthy development, so that all kids are ready for kindergarten.
